Student Trainee (BioSci Support)

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Measure habitat characteristics (hydrology, temperature, vegetation), and record and organize scientific data. Assist with compilation of natural resource/conservation plans and projects. Assist in preparation and presentation of interpretive biological reports. Perform grounds-keeping work utilizing lawnmowers, string trimmers and hand sprayers. Physical Demands:
The work requires regular and protracted periods of considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects (over 50 pounds with assistance); hacking through dense vegetation; climbing ladders or scaffolds; carrying equipment used to install, maintain, or repair research installations. Intern must work in extreme heat and cold, high humidity, rain, biting insects, venomous snakes, alligators, and other harsh conditions. Intern must walk through deep water and muck. Hand and finger dexterity must be equal to the exacting use of certain tools and equipment. Work Environment:
The intern works indoors in an office, in a workshop setting, and outdoors. There is regular exposure to high and low temperature extremes, inclement weather, dusty/noisy environments, and working near heavy equipment. The intern is expected to perform duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property. Field activities are normally conducted in remote locations and under primitive living conditions. Small motorboats and airboats may be used for travel or as a survey platform. Pathways Intern The Department of the Interior Internship Program (Pathways) is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. To be eligible for a Pathways Program internship program, you must meet the following requirements:
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on at least a half-time basis and in good standing who will be continuing my education into the next semester have received a notice of acceptance for enrollment. (You are required to submit a copy of your transcript or notice of acceptance.) Enrollment must be with an accredited educational institution or state-approved home school. These may include high schools, colleges, universities, technical, trade, vocational, or business schools, and state approved home school secondary and post-secondary programs. Qualifying certificate programs are post-high school programs equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum. This position may be terminated at any time or may be extended at management's discretion without further competition if the employee remains eligible for employment in the Pathways Intern Program. Only experience and education obtained by June 27, 2019 will be considered. Minimum Education and Experience
Qualifications:
Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study with specialization in or directly related to the position, OR 6 months of general experience that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position. General experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrated your ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with biological work, OR A combination of education and experience which, when combined, meets 100% of the qualification requirements. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirement, and provide documentation such as a copy of your official transcript and/or veteran's documentation by the closing date of the announcement to be considered:
Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
